Itinerary

  • Introduction:

    •           The Markha valley is one of the most famous for trekking in Ladakh. It is an amazing route to get introduced with magical and remote valley of Ladakh. While trekking, you will pass through some beautiful villages and valleys. People climb only the shoulder of the peak Kangyatse 6,400mts because it is very difficult to climb as it is very much technical in every term.
                “Stok Kangri” (elevation 6,137 m (20,135 feet) is the highest mountain in the Stok Range of the Himalayas in the Ladakh region of northwest India. The peak is located in Hemis National Park, 12 km southwest of the trailhead at 3,610 m (11,845 feet) in the village of Stok and 24 km southwest of the Ladakhi capital of Leh. Despite its altitude, Stok Kangri is a popular peak and is often climbed as an initial non-technical foray into high altitude mountaineering.
                Another easy peak for expedition is “Kangyatse” (6,400m.). Located in the south eastern part of Leh, Kangyatse peak is as famous as Stok Kangri. One can do this expedition along with the Markha Valley trek. And also you can do three expeditions together, that is to Stok Kangri, Golep Kangri and Kangyatse. The Kangyatse is known for its breathtaking and amazing views and sceneries from the top.

  • Day 1 : Arrival at Leh Airport.

    • Coming straight to the altitude of min. 3,200 m from a much lower place can cause some health problems. So to avoid that, we suggest our guest to take complete rest for a day to get acclimatized. Later there will be a briefing of the program by the agent or by the company representative.Overnight in Hotel

  • Day 2 :Drive to Hemis and Thiksey monastery and have lunch at Chamba restaurant at Thiksey. Drive to Stok palace after the lunch 6 - 7 hrs

    • Second day is good to get out doing some sightseeing because you are already acclimatized. So we will start by visiting Hemis and Thiksey monastery at first and then Stok palace after a hot lunch at Chamba restaurant.Overnight in Hotel

  • Day 3 :Leh to Zingchen drive and trek till Yurutse

    • It's a gradual climb from Zinchen to Rumbak. From here you can enjoy the fabulous views of the snow capped Stok Mountains. We will move along the Rumbak Nala towards Yurutse. At Yurutse village you will find fields of barley and potatoes. Overnight Camp

  • Day 4 : Yurutse to Skyu Via Gandala pass(4,900m)

    • A gradual ascent followed by a steep climb gets one to the Ganda la (4900 M). From here views extend south to the Zanskar range and distant summits of the Himalayan range. This is followed by a long descent to Shingo village. From Shingo the trail heads into a narrow gorge leading towards Skyu. At Skyu there is a confluence of the rivers coming from Markha valley and Shingo. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 5 :Skyu to Markha .6 to 7 hrs

    • It's a very pleasant hike, up the Markha valley today with the trail crossing numerous streams. Markha is a quaint village with a deserted fort and a small village.Overnight in Camp

  • Day 6 :Markha to Thochungtse. 6 to 7 hrs

    • From Markha the country changes and the warm, relatively heavily wooded sections of the lower Markha is left behind. We might need to cross the river several times as there are no bridges here. Hanker, en route, is the highest village in the Markha valley. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 7 :Thochuntse to Kangyatse base 4,750mts 4 to 5 hrs.

    • From Thoachungtse to the Base camp of the Kangyates is not a hard Journey as it will be almost flat towards the base . Overnight in Camp

  • Day 8 :Base camp to summit Kangyatse 6,200mts and back to Nyimaling after the Summit.

    • Early in the morning at around 2; 00am, we will start ascending up to submit the peak. The ascending up is quite tough and a bit technical as you climb towards the top. Then as you reach the peak, you will surely enjoy the unimaginable views that surround the peak. You can see the deep Markha valley beneath, the Stok ranges, and the Zanskar ranges that become bold as they ran towards Rubsho. Then descend down is not so easy and one should follow the instructions of the guide to avoid problem. It would be better to come down to Nyimaling on the same day. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 9:Nyimaling to Chuskyurmo via Kongmarula (5,150 m). 4 to 5hr

    • After the breakfast, start walking towards the north side, that is to Chuskyormo via Kongmaru la pass (5,150 m). From the top of the pass, you can use cell phone as you get the reception easily because of the height. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 10:Chuskyurmo to Shang Phu.5 hrs.

    • Today we will walk from Chuskyurmo to Shang Phu, we will meet many tourists because the trail which is the Markha valley trekking Route, many people prefer coming from the Opposite Route that is instead of coming from Zhingchen. Our today’s trek will take around 4 to 5 hrs. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 11:Shang Phu to Matho Phu. 5hrs

    • Today we will walk towards the Matho Phu where we have to cross over a Pass and then Decent towards Shang Phu. Overnight

  • Day 12:Matho Phu to Mankarmo 5hrs

    • From Matho Phu, we will trek towards Mankarmo which is mostly used as a first base to summit Stok Kangri. We will camp here. We might find more people at the camp who have come for summit.Overnight in Camp

  • Day 13:Mankarmo to Base Camp (5,000m), 3-4hrs

    • We will make an early start and reach base camp with still most of the day to rest. And then we will have lunch and take a short climb from base camp for better acclimatization. We will climb a further 100 m and then come back down again to get an early night in preparation for tomorrow's summit attempt.Overnight in Camp

  • Day 14:Base Camp to Summit (6,153m),9-10hrs and Back to the Base/Mankarmo

    • We will start climbing in the early hours of the morning to avail of the best weather conditions and a possible sunrise at the summit. First we climb onto a ridge which leads to a large glacier. After crossing the glacier we ascend steeply to the summit. This last leg is the most difficult and takes a lot of physical and mental strength. The panoramic view from the summit is second to none. To the north-west the Karakoram Range, including K2 (8611 m), seems endless. One can also see the Zanskar Range. Overnight in Camp

  • Day 15:Mankarmo to Stok village and then to Leh

    • From base camp we descend all the way to Stok village. This is a great walk passing by numerous ruins of old forts and castles. It takes about six hours to reach Stok village where we are met by waiting vehicles. We then drive one hour back to Leh. Enjoy and celebrate the evening.Overnight at Hotel

  • Day 16:Souvenir shopping and Shanti Stupa visit in the afternoon

    • Last day is a free day for you souvenir shopping or free walk around the city. You will escorted to visit Shanti Stupa on demand. In the evening, there will be a cultural show.Overnight at Hotel

  • Day 17:Departure to Delhi (End of the Tour).

    • Morning, transfer to the Leh airport for your flight to Delhi. It is a spectacular flight of one hour by around noon you reach to your Delhi hotel. If time allows, we can also organize a small sightseeing of the city.
